Amber O'Reilly

Amber O’Reilly (she/her/hers) is a multilingual playwright, poet, spoken word artist, and screenwriter and event host from Yellowknife. In 2022-23, she was the first artist on French-language Independent Study in ecriture-dramatique at the National Theatre School of Canada under Diane Pavlovic. Through this residency, she wrote Soutensions (Undertoils) with coaching from Rébecca Déraspe and Lorraine Camerlain, led a creation lab for Thé des truies (Swine Tea Party) and studied object theatre with La Pire Espèce for Ébréchée (Chipped).
In May 2023, les Éditions du Blé published her first full-length play Annie et Tom du lundi au vendredi. In 2021, Amber co-produced the play with Winnipeg’s Théâtre Cercle Molière and director Marie-Ève Fontaine. She received the Association des théâtres francophones du Canada’s 2021 Prix Roland-Mahé for the project.
Her French-language poetry collection Boussole franche, published with Les Éditions du Blé, won the 2021 Prix littéraire Rue-Deschambault (Manitoba Book Awards) and was a finalist for the 2022 Prix Champlain. She speaks French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and English.
