Jake Bunyan

Jake Bunyan is a Canadian actor, musician, and writer who will be setting his roots in Toronto come the summer of 2025.

He is fascinated by the human condition and is entirely dedicated to the examination and portrayal of it in his work. He lives at the intersection of art and life and is constantly investigating how one feeds the other. He works with commitment, curiosity, courage, honesty, and openness and is guided by an empathetic, generous, humorous, and deeply inquisitive nature.

During his time at National Theatre School of Canada (NTS), Jake worked alongside many of the driving forces in the Canadian theatre landscape, including Jessica B. Hill, Brian Dooley, Nancy Benjamin, Rebecca Harper, Quincy Armorer and Alisa Palmer. Among his many roles, he had the pleasure of playing the title character in Richard III, proving himself to be a leading actor as well as a strong ensemble player.

Before bringing his talents to NTS, Jake trained intensively in the Meisner technique at Company of Rogues Actors’ Studio. He starred in Theatre Calgary’s production of Joshua Harmon’s Admissions and is credited in season 3 of Fargo (MGM/FXP).

Jake is an advanced guitar player, comfortable playing anything from electric blues to classical fingerstyle, while being a vocalist to match. A gifted athlete, he excels in unarmed, rapier, dagger, and cloak stage combat, as well as other physical aspects of performance.

Committed to the journey, Jake seeks artists who share his drive and boundless love of the work. He looks forward to working both on stage and on camera, and hopes to add his voice to the wave of exciting change.

He not busy being born is busy dying.”
