Jake Cohen

Jake Cohen (he/him) is a Montreal-born performer, creator, musician, and proud alum of the theatre program at Dawson College and the acting program at the National Theatre School of Canada (NTS).
Selected performance credits include JakeWheeze/co-creator for Infinite Variety (Repercussion Theatre), Menakhem in The Sages of Chelm (Segal/DWYT), Henry in Next to Normal (Contact Theatre), and Hamlet in The Bad Hamlet (Dome). He co-wrote and co-starred in Scrappy, which tied for Best Short Film and received the Audience Choice award at the 2024 ACTRA Montreal Short Film Festival. He has also collaborated on workshops and readings with companies including Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal, Geordie Theatre, Infinitheatre, and Teesri Duniya. For his work in Next to Normal, Jake received a 2022 META for Outstanding Supporting Performance (Independent Production) and was nominated for Outstanding Emerging Artist (Performance).
After graduating NTS, Jake is excited to relocate to Toronto, seeking representation and community there while maintaining his roots in his hometown of Montreal. Among other things, he is particularly passionate about music as a theatrical storytelling tool and developing the most excellent new work with the most excellent collaborators he can find in any medium he can get his hands on. He looks forward to discovering how best he can apply his artistry to make daring, playful, and memorable contributions to the cultural landscapes of Canada and beyond.
