Kinsey Hollis

Kinsey Hollis is a playwright and actor from Winnipeg, Manitoba (Treaty 1). She graduated from the University of Winnipeg’s Honours Acting Program in 2020. She started writing plays because she wanted to create richer, more complex roles for young women in theatre. Her plays explore what we owe to each other, our community, and our planet. Her work is about the nitty-gritty reality of redemption, the violence of everyday life, and how when one is loved, they are changed.
Her plays include: A Taste of Blood in the Mouth (dramaturgy by Ann-Marie MacDonald), which debuted at the 2024 Winnipeg Fringe Festival, where it received the Harry S. Rintoul Award; This Play Has a Happy Ending (dramaturgy by Nick Carpenter); Pack Mentality (dramaturgy by Andrea Romaldi), which had a professional reading through The National Theatre School in March of 2024; Unbecoming (dramaturgy by Dean Patrick Fleming), which received a professional reading through Geordie Theatre Productions, directed by Jimmy Blais. Her play Verdigris (dramaturgy by Jeremy Taylor) was presented in the 2025 New Words Festival, with direction from Dean Patrick Fleming.
In 2024, Kinsey started her own theatre company, Cerridwen Productions, with the hopes of platforming emerging female and gender-diverse theatre artists, allowing them paid opportunities to gain more practical experience in the arts. Along with her own plays, Kinsey intends to platform plays written by, about, and for women, exploring their lived realities, fears, and joys.
