Maya Padlewska
Born in the rural landscape of the Ottawa Valley, Maya Padlewska is a multidisciplinary artist with Chinese-Polish roots who graduated in the Set and Costume Design program at the National Theatre School of Canada (2026). Driven by boundless curiosity, she finds joy in the paint that she applies, the music she plays, and the sound of her sewing machine at work—passions that fuel her artistic practice.
Her career at the NTS has been marked by a series of notable collaborations, designing costumes for Revolt. She said. Revolt again. (directed by Rose Plotek), Mort aux rats (directed by Marie-Ève Groulx), and Cerberus (directed by Emma Welham). She has also designed the set for The Neverending Story (directed by Jovanni Sy).
Guided by constant research of shapes, colours, and materials, Maya stands out for her human and collaborative approach. Her attentiveness, discipline, and great adaptability make her a valuable asset to any creative team.
Having studied under renowned artists such as Cathia Pagotto, Gillian Gallow, Jessica Poirier-Chang, Julia Metzger, Michael Slack, and François Vincent, Maya aspires to pursue her ambitions in set and costume design for theater, film, and other forms of performing and visual arts, bringing her unique vision and authenticity to her work.
