Nezren Pittoors-McMahon

Nezren Pittoors-McMahon is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Aylmer, Gatineau, now based in Montreal. They have a background in music and fine arts. After discovering theater production, they fell in love with the craft, leading them to work in the Ottawa Fringe scene. Their time at the National Theatre School’s Production Design and Technical Arts program helped expand their creative focuses to include sound and lighting design as well as live streaming, video, and prop design. With each new discipline, the focus always returned to providing an immersive experience for the audience. As a sound designer, their interest lies in leveraging the power of an odd and unsettling soundscape to sculpt an auditory experience. Nezren strives to use the intangible to create a tangible experience that is textured, layered, and rich. In lighting, however, they love to create with color and whimsy using light as paint on a canvas. Their most recent projects are Sound Designer for Deadline written by the Acting Class of 2025, as well as Set and Props assistant for Government Inspector by Nikolai Gogol and Lighting Designer for William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Outside of theater, Nezren is an illustrator and sculptor constantly exploring and pushing to create in new ways. Regardless of the medium, their artistic passion lies in strange and unusual storytelling for the curious and crazy willing to follow on the journey.
