Scotia Browner

Scotia Browner is a Chinese-Canadian theatre artist based in Toronto, ON. She is passionate about work that reflects cultural diversity and amplifies historically overshadowed voices on both stage and screen. She strives to work in and create spaces that both challenge and support artistic expression and risk. Scotia’s work comes from a place of curiosity, play, collaboration, and diligence. 

During her time at the National Theatre School of Canada, she has had the privilege of working with Canadian talent including Thomas Morgan Jones, Marla McLean, Graeme Somerville, Jessica B. Hill, Brad Cook, Tawiah M’Carthy, Tim Welham, Quincy Armorer and Jovanni Sy. In her training, she has had the pleasure of performing roles such as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Maria in Yerma and Falkor in The Neverending Story. Selected theatre credits include Luisa in The Fantasticks (White Rock Players’ Club); Diana Barry in Anne of Green Gables (Gateway Theatre); and Fiona in Shrek the Musical (School’s Out Productions). Upcoming: Fangirl in The Tao of the World (The Stratford Festival). 

Scotia is a trained singer in the genres of belt, pop, musical theatre, classical and twang, and holds an Estill Figure Proficiency Certificate in Estill Technique. With this, she aspires to teach singing and voice in the future. Additionally, Scotia is trained in dance styles such as hip hop, tap, ballet and contemporary, as well as stage combat in unarmed, rapier and dagger. 

Continuing to grow in her artistry, Scotia is eager to bring her training, skill, perspective, and passion to meaningful projects around the world.
